Frequently asked questions

What is nutrition & health coaching?

It's a supported intervention to help you improve your nutrition and health sustainably. Rather than a generic diet plan, we focus on your goals, your lifestyle, and the health behaviours that sit underneath them, so change actually sticks.

What is a food plan?

Guidance on food intake offers flexibility, covering food types and portion sizes to support your goals. A food plan isn't the right approach for every client, but whatever we work on together, you'll always leave with clear dietary guidance.

Do I need to be local to use your services?

No. Most of my clients work with me online, over Teams or WhatsApp video, so you can get support wherever you are, even abroad! I have clients in Australia, Germany, France, UAE, and Canada!

What are your qualifications & experience?

PhD in Appetite (Bio)Psychology, MMedSci in Human Nutrition, and BSc in Human Biology. Alongside this, I have 6 years of industry experience as a Nutrition Specialist and 8 years as a Nutrition & Health Coach. I've also worked with a professional rugby team, and currently support supplement product development and contribute to the childhood obesity strategy.

What's the difference between the 6-session Foundation Programme and Monthly Accountability Coaching?

The Foundation Programme is a structured, six-session programme designed to help you understand and reshape your relationship with food, eating behaviours, and thought patterns, giving you the tools and insight to make lasting change. I work alongside clinical support for clients with a diagnosed eating disorder.

How can I book a free call with you?

Use the online booking form, or email sayhello@emilynutritioncoach.co.uk if none of the available times work for you and you'd like to find another slot.

Do I have to have sessions with you every week?

No. Sessions can be weekly or fortnightly, depending on your goals and individual needs.

What happens if I can't attend a booked session?

I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you let me know more than 24 hours in advance, I'll happily rearrange. Inside the 24-hour window, the session will not be rearranged or refunded.

How do you take payment for your services?

By bank transfer, or standing order for monthly coaching.

If I cancel a standing order halfway through the month, do I get a refund?

No, but you are welcome to complete all sessions that you have paid for. The final session can be a summary session with an on-going action plan.

Can I contact you between sessions?

Yes. Every client can reach me by email or WhatsApp, and I'll always respond as soon as I can. For quick questions, I'll answer directly; if something needs more time or attention, I'll suggest we cover it properly in your next session.

Is this right for me if I've tried lots of diets before and nothing's worked?

Yes, in fact that's exactly who I work best with. If you've tried plan after plan and still end up back where you started, the issue usually isn't willpower or the 'right' diet; it's the habits and thought patterns underneath. That's what we work on together, so the change actually lasts this time.

Do you work with specific conditions (IBS, diabetes, menopause, PCOS, etc.)?

I work with a wide range of clients and conditions, and I'll always be upfront if something falls outside my scope or would benefit from additional clinical input. If you're not sure whether coaching is right for your situation, mention it on our free call and we can talk it through.

Will you just tell me what to eat?

No, not on its own. I can absolutely give you dietary guidance where it's helpful, but my focus is on why eating changes are a challenge rather than just what to eat. That means looking at your behaviours, habits, and thought patterns alongside any food guidance, so you build something sustainable rather than another plan that fails.

Is coaching confidential?

Yes. Anything you share with me stays between us.

What happens after the 6 sessions in the Foundation Programme end?

Many clients feel ready to continue independently. Others prefer ongoing support to stay consistent and accountable, in which case Monthly Accountability Coaching is a natural next step. There's no obligation either way; we'll talk about what makes sense for you as we approach the end of the programme.

How long are sessions, and how are they delivered?

Foundation programme sessions are 30-45 minutes long, and coaching sessions are 20-30 minutes long. Both are delivered online via Teams or WhatsApp video.

Do you only offer packages, or can I do pay-as-you-go?

Both programmes start with a one-off consultation (£80) so you can decide whether you'd like to continue onto a package. From there, the sessions are structured, not pay-as-you-go: the Foundation Programme is a fixed six-session package, and Monthly Accountability Coaching runs on a minimum two-month commitment with a rate based on how often you'd like to check in.
